Grace Bible College Prospectus General Information: The Goal and vision of GBC is to prepare Christian workers for new challenges in the new millenium Location: Grace Bible College is situated at Amravati, which is one of the very important cities in Maharashtra. The city is situated at the approximate center of Nagpur and Akola, which are among the other big cities of Maharashtra. Badnera Railway Station (junction) is just 8 kms away from Amravati. Amravati is a historical city named after goddess Amba. the famous temple of goddess Amba is located in the city. this city even has importance in Hindu epics. Amravati is both business and business and educational centre. It has a university, medical college and engineering college. The Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal of Amravati is very well known in Asia. Purpose & Objectives: Grace Bible College, Amravati is primarily fundamental theological college that prepares students for dynamic Christian living in the church and society and to serve God and mankind in the Bliblical perspective. ACADEMIC INFORMATION: Our medium of instruction is English. Academic Programme: The Grace Bible College trains Christians for ministry and church related vocations by means of a curriculum, which includes Biblical, theoolgical, professional and general studies. GBC offers one year Certificate in Theology (C.Th.), Two-year Diploma in Theology (Dip.Th.) and three-year Bachelor of Theology (B.Th). Certificate in Theology: It is one year mininsterial programme of minimum of 30 credit hours, which is designed for those who have successfully completed high school examination and desire to serve the Lord and desire personal enrichment in Bible and theology. It is available in English only. Diploma in Theology: It is two year Training programme of minimum of 60 credit hours which is designed for those who have successfully completed high school examination and disire to enter in full time ministry as pastors or evangelists. It is available in English only. Admission Requirement: 1) Duly filled admission form. 2) The following documents-- a. Personal testmony of the applicant b. Two recommendation letters from the pastor or influential Christian leader. c. Medical Certificate from Medical practitioner (at least MBBS) d. Two passport size photographs. e. School/college leaving certificate and mark sheet of last examination appeared. (Original certificates should be produced at the time of registration.) f. Baptism Certificate. g. Letter of financial support from parents/sponsors/church/organization. 3) The students should supply themselves with the following for their personal use in GBC. a. English Bible (perferably NIV) b. Bedding (cot, mattress and pillow will be provided by the college.) c. Mosquito net. d. Bucket, mug, detergent, and sanitary kits. e. Plate, glass, cup and bowl. f. Note books, pen, pencil etc. g. Dictionary 4) Submission of application form does not necessarily guarantee admission. Candidates qualifying for admission will be notified to appear for an interview. The outcome of the interview will be notified to the applicant. The college is under no obligation to give specific reasons for the refusal of any applicant, under no circumstances one should come to the college without receiving the admission letter or interview letter. Along with theological coaching in the classrooms GBC involves students in practical ministry. This involves house visitation, participation in church activities such as preaching, Sunday school, vacation Bible school and camps. Also other activities arrange by the college and by the local church such as conferences, open air preaching, tract distribution, etc. During summer and Christmas vacation students are required to work under local church pastor, supervisors or their respective missions or in ministries llke O.M., NCM etc. Grading System: First Class Second Class Third Class A+ (80% & Above) B+ (65%) C+ (50%) A (75%) B (60%) C (45%) A- (70%) B- (55%) C- (40%) The pass mark in each single subject is C- (40%). Class Promotion: Class promotion is given on the basis of student's overall performance. Any first year students who fails in minimum 5 subjects in the whole academic year will be sent back or can be considered to repeat the year. Any students of any class fails in 3 subjects in the semester exam will be given chance for re-exam. He/She will be required to pay re-exam fees set by the college. The maximum marks for the re-exam will be 40 (C-). Graduation Requirements: The college has set the following requirement for graduation: a. Completion of the required number of credit hours for each programme and minimum grades (average of 50). b. Satisfactory practical work report. c. Settlement of the bills with the college. d. Personal life and character on the campus. e. Attendance at the graduation excercises (unless special permission for absence has been obtained from the Principle. Dismissal/Termination: The college administration has the full right and authority to suspend/dismiss/terminate a student at any time of the academic year that falls short of college rules and regulations. The dismissed student will not get degree/diploma/certificate. At the end of each academic year, the students who get below 50% grade average will be given an opportunity for one semester to raise the average. If the student fails to do so, he/she will be acadmically disqualified and will be asked to discontinue study at the college. Withdrawal from the college: A student, who for any reason finds it necessary to discontinue his/her studies must obtain permission from the Principle and clearance by the heads of various departments. The sponsors/students are required to make arrangement towards travel, medical expenses, books and incidentals expenses for their candidates/themselves. Financial Policies: 1. Fees are taken for 9 months only (July to March) 2. For day scholars Rs.300/-per month (This includes the lunch) If anyone who is not interested to take lunch will have to pay Rs. 150/- per month. 3. The payment should be made either in cash or by D.D. in favour of Grace Bible Church. 4. For a student to be eligible to appear for the final examinations should be cleared of all feees of the current semenster and all arrears of the preceding semester. 5. CAMPUS LIFE: Accommodation and Food: GBC gives a lot of importance to the campus life of the students especially to students stay and food, since it contrbutes towards the students' growth and development of spiritual life, personality and mental strength. There are separate living facilities for men and women. the college provides cot, mattress and pillow, but the students are expected to bring their own bed covers, mosquito net, warm clothing and all the necessary things for personal use. All the students have a common dining hall; the students are expected to bring their own plate, glass, cup and bowl. The office manages the mess. Worhship: Personal devotion/quiet time is compulsory in the morning. This is important for ones spiritual growth. Morning Chapel service from 8:00-8:30 a.m. from Monday to Friday and Sunday worship service from 10:30 -12:00 a.m. is compulsory for all students. Apart from these, hostel fellowship, weekly prayer meetings and toher church activities are compulsory for all the students. Library/Study Hours: The library and study hour is compulsory for all the students. The study hours are from 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. & 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Silence must be kept during study hours. Medical Care: GBC attends immediately to students who fall sick and adequate medical care will be given in due time. First Aid will be given freely, but Doctor's fee, hospital charges and other major expenses should be taken car by the students/parents/sponsors. Sports: Development of mental strength and physical fitness is given balanced importance. Sports and games are designed to build a healthy relationship with each other. Equipments are provided for physical exercise and games. Attendance is compulsory for this. If anyone who is unable to participate on medical ground should produce the doctor's certificate. Dressing: In order to maintain the highest Christian standard students are encouraged to dress modestly in and outside the campus. Student Body: The student body consists of the president of the student body, treasurer, secretary and one representative from each class and advisor from the faculty. The student body is responsible to arrange and to look into the student activities, recreation and social programme. Counselling: Personal and social counseling are provided by the warden as well as other administrators and the faculty memebers. Spiritual counseling may be obtained from the pastor or the Principal of the college. Academic matter should be taken to the Academic Dean for Academic counseling. In GBC all administrators, faculty and the Principal is ready to help the students to solve their problems and difficulties. General Rules and Regulations: To maintain a high standard of Christian life and conduct the students are expected to observe general rules and regulations set by the college. 1. All students should respond to the bell at 5:30 a.m. and should maintain personal quiet time. 2. All are required to do their assigned duties honestly. 3. The students should keep their rooms, toilets & bathrooms clean. 4. Everyone should be present on time for their meals in dining hall. No student should take the meal outside the dining hall without appropiate reason and permission. There should be no private cooking on campus. 5. If lights are not switched off by 10:30 p.m., the students will be fined Rs. 10/- from each of the roommates. 6. The use of electric equipments like heater and electric stove is prohibited. 7. Guest of the student should first see the principal & then with permission of the warden will be allowed to visit the hostel. 8. The stay of the student's guest should not be more than one day in the campus. Any guest who eats in themess will be charged accordingly- Breakfast - Rs. 10/- Lunch - Rs. 25/- Dinner - Rs. 20/- 9. Special food will demand doctor's certificate. 10. Any complaint/suggestion about food should be made directly to the principal without any argument with the kitchen staff. 11. Personal hygiene & cleanliness are very important. It is the responsibility of the student to keep the surroundings clean & tidy. 12. Sickness of any sort should immediately be informed to the warden. 13. Transistor, taperecorders are allowed only with earphones. Electric tapping is forbidden. 14. Consumption of intoxicating beverages will be severely dealt with. 15. The students are encouraged to speak in English with other students. 16. Unity and co-operation should always be maintained among the students. Groupism is forbidden. Quarrels/tension among the students should be brought to the notice of the warden. 17. Strikes and rebellion will not be tolerated. 18. Students should not press and argue on their denominational views with others. This will cause disruption. Everyone should respect others. 19. The students are not allowed to attend or participate in any programme outside the campus. 20. The students are not allowed to work outside the campus. 21. The college does not encourage the students to purchase anything on credit. 22. Every student should participate in every programme of the college. 23. Any sort of hot argument or insult of the staff will not be tolerated. 24. Misbehaviour & filthy behaviour of the sutdents will be severely punished. 25. In emergencies only the students will be granted permission to go home on basis of telphone or telegram messages. 26. Students should abstain from causing damage to any college property. If any damage is done, the concerned student may be asked for replacement or compensation. 27. Outdoor evangelistic activities and manual labor are of equal importance. All students are expected to participate joyfully in all such activities. 28. The students should refrain from any cultural, linguistic, ethnical and religious discrimination and criticism. 29. Leaving the campus should only be done with prior permission from the warden. Everyone should sign the outing register. 30. Any mal practice in the exam will result in the dismissal of the student. 31. Student will not be permitted to write outside examination without prior permission. First year students will not be allowed to write outside examination under any circumstances. 32. The student who is found guilty of any sorts will be warned by memo and true copy of the same will be sent directly to the parents/guardian/sponsors. 33. Violation of these rules and regulations and other guidelines announced by the administration from time to time, will result in punishment, fine or suspension of a student from the college. 34. For any disciplinary action, Principal's decision will be final and not be questioned. 35.
